Update from Florida February 9, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — Lauren Warner @ 7:04 pm

I haven’t been able to keep up with my blogging since we came to Florida last weekend. Had this trip just been the weekend trip it was intended to be it wouldn’t have been a problem but my mother was admitted to the hospital, via the ER, on Saturday night with pneumonia. By the time I got the news (I had been so asleep that I didn’t hear my sisters go to my parents room in the middle of the night) I found that the doctors had given her a 40% mortality rate and that she wouldn’t have made the trip back home if we’d tried to get home first.

Since she had been admitted her blood pressure went from the 60s back up to her “normal” of hypertensive levels and she has maintained on her own. She’s back on her blood pressure meds, so that’s kind of a good sign. She is coughing and clearing her lungs much better than before but one of her lungs is still not clearing and they want to do a lung scan to see why.

They were planning to do the additional lung scan today but she has been complaining of abdominal pain for the past few days. The nurses gave her some pain meds through her arterial IV but something went wrong and it seeped into her tissues, causing excruciating pain. They have that under control now but they have postponed the lung scan and are now waiting for a GI doctor to address her abdominal pain.

Please keep us all in your prayers. Meg has been running a fever off and on with a sore throat. Heather was scheduled to leave for Taiwan on the 14th but has been able to postpone that. Daddy is extremely stressed and tired. This is wearing on him especially because of the closeness to the loss of his mother last month. I’m also fighting something and can’t quit coughing. Aaron has the girls up in Tennessee because of his classes and his family (God bless them all) are helping him with them.

This isn’t easy for any of us but we have to keep faith and remember that there’s always a reason for the things we go through. God has a bigger plan, even if we can’t see it.
